London Essentials
when moving your life to or already living in London, just remember that there are shops over there, you can buy stuff and you’re definitely not stranded. but that said, who wants to outlay precious pennies on the essentials as soon as you get there?
so make a list
keep a pen and paper on you in the lead up to departure, and take note of the things you can’t live without. (FYI, there’s no need to suffer through the marmite on toast experience if you don’t want to. vegemite can now be purchased in London.)
what to leave with a trusted soul back home
photocopies of your passport, airline tickets and credit cards (they’re just easier to replace if someone, somewhere has copies of these).
undies vs socks
if space is limited, pack more undies than socks. you can get away with wearing socks more than once before the wash. not undies. ☺
to have close by
when you take off, make sure the following’s in your carry-on gear.
• visa – no hope of getting into the UK without one of these!
• address of where you’re going to stay when you land in the UK – you’ll need this for the landing card.
• passport and airline tickets.
don’t make like Schapelle
have a lock for every zip that’s on your backpack and bags.
essential tips
tickets, visa, passport, insurance, music player, Lonely Planet (or Rough Guide or whatever), locks, bank statements, copies of your passport, bank deets, credit card numbers, phone, medical history.
