Well, my biggest fear was having someone steal my ID information and I wouldn’t be able to get everything I needed to get home. Some places I would not mind being stranded, for others I get insurance. This trip was kind of in the middle, so I got the insurance to be safe either way. I did not anticipate getting in an accident and needing the medical and legal coverage.
But when a cab I was in Thailand got into an accident with a motorist doing deliveries, it was chaos. It was like no one would say who was at fault and even if they did, it was their employers they said would have to deal with it. I had a bad cut on my head so I couldn’t wait around. We contacted NRMA and they did everything. Their 24/7 customer service was unreal, they were always there and they took over the accident negotiations (and getting a replacement laptop which was smashed when the side was hit). The part that really saved my vacation (and head) was the overseas medical coverage. It was all covered, no worries. So, I would highly recommend NRMA for traveling abroad because you just never know.
