Well, my biggest fear was having someone steal my ID information and I wouldn’t be able to get everything I needed to get home. Some places I would not mind being stranded, for others I get insurance. This trip was kind of in the middle, so I got the insurance to be safe either way. if you have some big things you can't live without or you are just severing all ties and moving your entire life over to the UK, then going through a shipping company or excess baggage co. is a good choice.
if you want to look after the things you have so carefully packed, re-packed and then told yourself you definately need over there, then insuring them should be a no-brainer.

you'll get to meet a lot of people who are in the same boat and there to enjoy London as well, so your bound to find a partner in crime or two!
