The Gumtree.com Review

we think this site rocks. it’s one of the number one site used in the UK to find a house, a flat or a flat mate for that matter. when we first moved to London we were on gumtree every spare minute, looking for a house. it’s a user friendly site and I think that’s what makes it so successful.

basically Gumtree divides its houses and flats listing into easy to navigate subject headers. For Rent, To Share, For Sale. too easy.

we spent most of our time in the To Share section.  basically, if you’re living in London you’ll be in a share house. it’s only when your earning the big bucks or living with your partner that you’ll be able to afford to live in a flat on your own. To Share divides the house listings into North of the river or South of the River, to represent where the areas/suburbs in London fall.  anyway beyond  the North, South thing, there are other options to house-search for, such as Couch Surfing, Room share,Single room, Double room, ect ect..you get the idea. so it makes searching for a room super easy.

all you need to do is research the area you want to live in. check out our London Suburbs video. it might help you decided. decide how much rent you want to pay and what that amount should include, and start searching.

Gumtree makes it easy with a Google maps attached to most listings, a phone number or email address so you know who to contact and people can also post up pics of the house, so you know what you’re getting yourself into. make sure you check out our Finding a Flat video for some must know house hunting tips.

Gumtree is super easy to use, everyone uses it, it’s free and because of this, it has a huge database. so you’ll be sure to find a million house, flat and room possibilities right here.
