Bayswater
guide to London
Bayswater is a perfect place to live if you want the vibrant city atmosphere, but not be in the chaotic center of London. It’s to the west in the Royal Borough of Kensington. It’s a bright and cheery metro town with all of the advantages of the city, without the high prices and constant traffic and uproar. Bayswater is an eclectic mix of strong and colorful cultures, with large populations of Greek, Brazilian, Arab and expat American residents.
The area is largely residential with accommodation ranging from 1 bedroom flats for the lowest price in all of London, to fancy Victorian townhouses for top dollar. There are also many temporary residents, with some of the long term hotels happy for foreigners with business in London to stay for extended work stays.
The restaurants are unbeatable with every kind of flavor and cuisine imaginable in town, with reasonable prices and often a free last minute table, especially for locals. You could literally eat like you were in a different country any night of the week and have the food as authentic as if you were traveling. But the people are so friendly, you always know you are home in this super friendly suburb. From greetings on the street, to invitations to dinner or drinks, to the weekend parties for everyone and their kids, there is always something going on, and everyone is not only invited, but welcomed. The diversity that most find daunting in Bayswater is actually one of those differences that pulls everyone together with their mutual respect and support for each other’s traditions, faiths and peculiarities.
