Job sites

Living in London right now is so expensive. Maybe not more expensive, it’s but harder to find a job where I can actually eat, sleep and pay rent every month. Getting laid off or sacked is normal and I have so many over-educated friends serving coffee and biscuits, it’s kind of depressing. Looking online seems to be the only way. Even then, some of the sites seem only to carry ads where they want you to do phone sales or have research done on your body.

I think reed.co.uk has to be one of the best job searching websites that I have tried. I found plenty of jobs in their website that I could apply for with the easy-to-use search option. I could even search through categories but I guess that will only work for you if you don’t mind moving anywhere, since it listed jobs all over the country!

Living jobless in London is just not an option. So, when I moved here, I took the first job that I could get. Then I realized it wasn’t going to cover much besides my rent—and that I’d have to eat only pasta and walk everywhere. Also, my boss was less than nice, and they kept us working ten hours a day for no reason and with no overtime pay. So, I wanted to find a new job, but had very little time to do it.

These days,  it is way too hard to get by without a decent job. But it seems like no one places ads in the papers any more. And if they do, there is no address or phone number. Finding an email address and sending in resumes unsolicited does not seem to pay off, and you can’t follow up even when you do.
